Ingredients:

  • 1 large head of broccoli, cut into florets
  • 200 grams of mushrooms, sliced
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional for added flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup vegetable broth or water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds (optional for garnish)
  • Green onions, chopped (optional for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Broccoli: Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add a pinch of salt. Blanch the broccoli florets for about 2-3 minutes until they are bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside.
  2. Cook the Mushrooms: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until they are golden brown and tender, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the mushrooms from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Garlic Sauce: In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
  4. Combine Ingredients: Return the mushrooms to the skillet and add the blanched broccoli.
  5. Add the Sauces: In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and cornstarch with the vegetable broth or water until smooth. Pour this mixture into the skillet.
  6. Cook and Thicken the Sauce: Stir everything together and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce has thickened and everything is well coated. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve: Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired. Serve hot.
