Ingredients:
- 1 large head of broccoli, cut into florets
- 200 grams of mushrooms, sliced
- 3-4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional for added flavor)
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1/4 cup vegetable broth or water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Sesame seeds (optional for garnish)
- Green onions, chopped (optional for garnish)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Broccoli: Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add a pinch of salt. Blanch the broccoli florets for about 2-3 minutes until they are bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside.
- Cook the Mushrooms: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until they are golden brown and tender, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the mushrooms from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the Garlic Sauce: In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
- Combine Ingredients: Return the mushrooms to the skillet and add the blanched broccoli.
- Add the Sauces: In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and cornstarch with the vegetable broth or water until smooth. Pour this mixture into the skillet.
- Cook and Thicken the Sauce: Stir everything together and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce has thickened and everything is well coated. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve: Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired. Serve hot.
